Dear members,

Due to the planned activities, there is a second newsletter this month. This will be focussed on giving some extra details concerning the upcoming events.

The BBQ

As mentioned in the previous newsletter, the 15th of June the Samourais barbeque will be held. This will take place on the TU campus, to ensure easy accessibility for everyone. The costs will be €15 for members and €20 for non-members, meaning partners are welcome. Signing-up and the payment can be done until Thursday the 13th of June on our website www.samourais.nl/bbq.

For these costs the board will arrange snacks, meat, vegetable, beer, wine and soda. Should someone have specific preferences, this can be noted in the sign-up form on the website. The plan is to start around 3 with games, snacks and drinks. Around 5, the barbeques will be lit, to ensure we can start eating around 6.

Currently we have 2 barbeques available to us, however we would greatly appreciate it if members had barbeques they would bring with them. This makes it easier to grill separately for people with allergies or dietary preferences. This also reduces the waiting times for the next meal coming of the grill! The board will ensure there is plenty of coal. Should people have a barbeque available, please inform us through the form or contact the board.

General Training

The general trainings are starting again and there are 2 in the planning at the moment. The first will be on Saturday, the first of June. This will be a wrestling training given by Eseu. Based on his experiences as Mexican champion. This will be in the dojo, from 16:00 until 18:00. Everyone is welcome to join and share this new experience. There is no need for a gi, regular sporting clothes will suffices.

During the months of July and August there will be no general trainings due to the holidays, marking the next general training date on Saturday the 14th of September. This training will be provided by Murat and Elif Sorkun. This was also asked because they recently opened up their own aikido school. This way they can show their style. We would prefer it if everyone would wear a gi for this training.

T-shirt

This year we want to order t-shirt with the logo of the Samourais again. The colour will be grey, instead of black last year. Since the shirt will be ordered from a different supplier, members will have the choice to either take a cotton shirt or a synthetic shirt. The expected costs will be €11. This cost might vary a little.
